A truck for every job
We have a wide range of sewer and stormwater cleaning units. They include a large fleet of purpose built combination jetting and suction units, plus water recycling units. Each unit carries a choice of jetting heads and nozzles, root cutting blades and descaling heads.
Our fleet runs from light jetting units for tight spaces and small blockages to large, high volume units. The big units clean very large assets and infrastructure. See also our high pressure drain cleaning.
How a combination unit works
Jet
Water from the truck’s jetting hose breaks up silt, grease and debris inside the pipe or pit.
Vacuum
A large suction hose draws the loose waste and water up into a tank on board.
Take it away
The truck carries the waste off site, so nothing is left behind.
One truck does both jobs, so the crew and the site stay small. The same suction power lets our trucks dig with water, too. See NDD and hydro excavation.
The Drain Man Recycler
We’ve added a new Cappellotto water recycling combination truck. It cleans pipes in a sustainable, eco friendly way.
The Recycler is three times more efficient than standard jet vac units that don’t recycle. It takes the dirty water it sucks up, cleans it and reuses it to jet clean pipes and infrastructure. That keeps it working at its best, nonstop.
We can save millions of litres of water a year.

Recycler key benefits
- Five built in filters clean the water the vacuum collects, so it can be reused again and again.
- It cuts back or stops the use of drinking water.
- All water is recycled, so we save Australia’s most precious resource.
- Saving resources lets us clean more lines, which helps prevent overflows.
- It saves time, effort and cost while we protect infrastructure and our community.

Who uses our fleet
Water authorities, councils, ports, rail and road managers use our trucks to keep their networks clear. So do facility managers, builders and civil contractors. Many book us on a set schedule, so lines get cleaned before they block.
Before and after a clean, we can film the line with our CCTV cameras. You see what was in the pipe and the state it’s left in.
Roots and hard build up
Some blockages need more than a flow of water. Our trucks carry root cutting blades and descaling heads for roots and scale. A spinning cutting head clears roots fully, rather than punching a hole through them.
Where roots or concrete are too big for the jetting gear, our robotic cutters take over. They break the blockage into small pieces we can then suck out.
Keeping waste out of waterways
Stormwater runs straight into creeks and rivers, then out to sea, with no treatment on the way. Anything sitting in a pit or trap can end up there.
Regular clean outs of pits, gross pollutant traps and interceptors remove that waste first. When a spill happens, our crews respond and recover it.
